This Friendship Day gave us a wonderful opportunity to strengthen the bond between Anaesthesiologists and Obstetricians & Gynaecologists—not just as colleagues, but as partners committed to one common goal: safe motherhood and the best possible patient outcomes.
True friendship is not about always agreeing with each other. It is about openly discussing, debating, and solving each other’s challenges with mutual respect and a shared commitment to patient safety. This meeting truly reflected that spirit.
For almost a month, Dr. Yogen Bhatt, Dr. Avadhoot Kulkarni, Dr. Anurag Bhate, Dr. Rakesh Pandya, and their teams worked together to make this academic program a success.
I had the privilege of contributing through:
* Recent Advances in Anaesthesia – What Every Obstetrician Should Know
* Co-moderating the panel discussion with Dr. Rakesh Pandya on Managing Emergencies in the OT and Labour Room
* Conducting a talk and hands-on training on Challenges in CPR in the Pregnant Patient
The CPR workshop was made possible with the enthusiastic support of Dr. Yogen Bhatt, Dr. Avadhoot Kulkarni, Dr. Bijal Vora, Dr. Alpa Mehta, Dr. Charu Apsangekar, Dr. Hema Dave, Dr. Rajesh Rao, and many of my anaesthesiology colleagues.
A special appreciation to Dr. Avadhoot Kulkarni for his excellent session on preparing ourselves for emergencies, which was highly appreciated by everyone.
The response was overwhelming—145 delegates filled the morning scientific session, and 50 Obstetricians actively participated in the afternoon hands-on CPR workshop.
An encouraging outcome of the workshop was that 25 Obstetricians registered for our structured Cardiac Arrest Management Learning Session, which will be conducted next month. This reflects the growing commitment towards improving emergency preparedness through interdisciplinary training.
This was more than just a CME; it was a milestone in interdisciplinary collaboration, learning, and friendship.
Thank you to every Obstetrician, Gynaecologist, and Anaesthesiologist who participated and made the day memorable.
Together we learn. Together we prepare. Together we save lives.
